A Growing Concern

Cancer is a growing concern in our industry as more and more firefighters are diagnosed with this disease than ever before. A recent multi-year study by the CDC on cancer among U.S. firefighters showed higher rates of certain types of cancer than among the general U.S. population. The study also provides evidence that these higher rates are directly related to occupational exposure.

INNOTEX® GRAY™ is designed to address this very issue. This line of protective hoods and interfaces is made to mitigate the risks of carcinogenic particulate contamination while maintaining air permeability. The particulate blocking layer blocks carcinogenic particulates 0.1 µm to 1.0 µm that is found in the combustion of structural fires by greater than 99.9% even after 100 washes. Yet, that same layer also allows for air permeation, which is essential to reduce the risk of increased core temperature.

Occupational Exposure to Carcinogens

INNOTEX® GRAY™ is a series of protective hoods and interfaces that address the growing industry concern of increased cancer cases in firefighters. By using a particulate blocking layer, we can effectively mitigate the risks of carcinogenic particulate contamination while maintaining air permeability.

INNOTEX® GRAY™ aims to protect multiple vulnerable areas, including the head, neck, wrists, body, and legs (5 CRITICAL POINTS) while maintaining comfort and mobility.

INNOTEX® GRAY™ Hood 25

The INNOTEX® GRAY™ Hood 25 has a THL of 427 and a TPP of 22.6

INNOTEX® GRAY™ PARTICULATE BARRIER BLOCKS MORE THAN 99.9% OF PARTICLES DOWN TO 0.1 MICRONS.

INNOTEX® GRAY™ hoods and interfaces use a proprietary version of Stedair® PREVENT, which blocks carcinogenic particulates 0.1 µm to 1.0 µm (microns) by greater than 99.9% (NFPA 1971: 2018 Edition requirement is a minimum of 90%).

AIR - AND MOISTURE - VAPOR PERMEABLE TO REDUCE HEAT STRESS.

The INNOTEX® GRAY™ hoods and interfaces are air permeable, which means air can pass through them. Body heat can dissipate, helping reduce the risk of increased body temperature.






3 LAYER APPROACH

The INNOTEX® GRAY™ hoods and interfaces use a 3 layer approach similar to Turnout Gear.

The exterior layer is either a 20%/80% Nomex/Lenzing blend or a 20%/80% PBI/Lenzing blend. The middle layer is a proprietary version of Stedair® PREVENT while the inner liner is a smooth, cooling multi-filament viscose.

The two inner layers are laminated together to increase comfort and reduce bulk.
